Bulgarian Multicultural Festival Montreal
May 6th, 2023
Montreal, the vibrant city nestled in the heart of Quebec, is renowned for its rich cultural tapestry, exquisite cuisine, and beautiful scenery. From May 5th to the 8th, our dance group explored the magical city and performed at our first out-of-province festival.
We spent the first day visiting popular landmarks, from the old village to walking miles within the busy streets of Montreal, while eating at the infamous Beaver tails, and immersing ourselves in the captivating French language.
On May 6th, we took the stage in Downtown Montreal, Cabot square, at The Bulgarian Multicultural Festival. Our gracious hosts, Ensemble Zornitsa, organized a wonderful festival. We had an amazing time performing our dances: Shopski Igri and Graovski Medley. We also got the chance to learn many new hora, while expanding our Bulgarian dance repertoire. The day was one for books that we will never forget!
The next day, we continued to explore the city, and hiked the beautiful Mount Royal. Later, we gratefully accepted an invitation and joined Ensemble Zornitsa’s dance practice. We watched their intricate steps, and afterwards, joined in and danced alongside them. It was an extremely educational experience that allowed us to socialize and get to know each other better. Finally, we ended the night by having dinner at a wonderful Mexican restaurant, and spent the night dancing away, engaging in wonderful conversation, eating delicious food, and forming valuable friendships.
The weekend was incredible, and we cannot wait to go on many more trips! It allowed us to increase our knowledge on Bulgarian culture and gave us the opportunity to share ours with others, even hundreds of kilometers away. Thank you Ensemble Zornitsa Montreal for being such amazing hosts, that made this trip truly incredible. We cannot wait to visit you and the wonderful city of Montreal once again!
